Default Elemental damage mods on weapons

Hi all

I currently have a lvl 13 W/Mo and have a max damage sword with cold damage. (Icy Fellblade)

I cannot find any information anywhere about which mobs I should be using cold damage on, I suspected fire type mobs like Charr, Hydra etc. but no real info.
Am I barking up the wrong game tree? Is all that matters that it's elemental damage and not physical?
I've just followed the mission path to Yak's bend and I'm suddenly finding it tough up there, is that because I'm using cold and it's a cold area?

Thanks for any info, I'd rather be playing that trying to Google the answers to these questions!

That's the best I could find. Click the links at the top of that page for earth/fire/air/water damage info, scroll down to see the types of creatures weak to that particular element.

Against the Stone Summit, the warriors specifically elemental will do more damage to them than physical, however iirc, there's a lot of rangers up there. While they're tougher against elemental, Stone Summit tend to be tough buggers in the first place. On top of that, this is the first area you get to after Ascalon where enemies don't drop in like 2-3 hits anymore.

It can be very useful to use cold damage together with a necromancer who has spinal shivers. When the necro uses spinal shivers, the enemy gets blocked whenever he gets hit with cold damage.

On average then it's normally down to either elemental or physical rather than particular elemental types. But some elemental types or skills can work together to combine effects or damage output?

So, there wouldn't be much point in me swapping my Icy mod for an Ebon one, unless I was combining that Ebon or Icy damage with some other skill?

In general, all warriors will be weak vs. any type of elemental damage and all rangers will be weak vs. physical damage. This applies to both PvP and PvE. It is, however, not always true in the latter one (there are warriors with increased armor vs. elemental damge, for instance).

As mentioned before, some creatures have increased weaknesses to certain damage types (i.e. most "plant" type monsters are weak vs. slashing damage and fire damage), but those weaknesses are documented only very incompletely, at best.

Thanks - that probably sums up what I was looking for.
